Finally This Condition Is Having Its Moment

As of late, your 💕 most favorite topics are endometriosis and menopause. It’s not a surprise because they impact so many of us - work, pain, frustration, complex symptoms, etc.

🙌🏼 I’m thrilled to share this post on laparoscopic surgery has gone viral. It says a lot about the struggles women face! And even popular TV shows are bringing it up!

As for menopause, remember - only 30% of medical schools train clinicians on menopause - many are working to change this. I hear so many women sharing their doctor “doesn’t understand.” Fempower Health’s Find a Doctor Resource may help you.

Let’s break down this week’s updates.

🎧 New Podcast Episode

Innovations in Endometriosis Diagnosis, Pelvic Pain Management, and Patient Support

This is the first episode in our four-part series on endometriosis, a condition that impacts at least 1 in 10 women, many of whom spend years seeking a diagnosis. In this episode, Margaret Melville of Lasa Health speaks to the resources and technology available for early endometriosis diagnosis, pelvic pain management, and patient support.

You have bias and you have years of things being done a certain way that we're fighting against. Getting doctors and healthcare administrators who are so busy and have so many [responsibilities]... Getting them to care about pelvic pain, or changing the way things are done at their hospital or clinic to improve care for pelvic pain patients, that is a monumental hurdle.

🙌🏼 Health Topic of the Week

PCOS impacts 1 in 10 women. Like many women’s health conditions women struggle with getting diagnosed. You may have seen last week’s article that Roche's Elecsys AMH blood test was approved. While experts have long tested for this, it has finally been added to the new criteria.

While PCOS can’t be cured, there are concrete ways to manage the symptoms, which is what Dr. Fiona McCulloch speaks about. Listen or watch below.

👉 Here’s What Coming

I just met with upcoming guest who will cover hysterectomies. Here is what I continuously hear from women and she will address them all!

  • If I knew then what I know now, I would not have gotten one.

  • Why did my doctor not tell me what to expect after?

  • I woke up from a surgery for something else, only to find I no longer have a uterus. Why wasn’t I told this could happen?

  • I did not know I should speak about full vs partial hysterectomy and understand which option is best for me.
