Big announcement for Fempower Health šŸ‘€

Things will start to look very different around hereā€¦

Happy Q3, everyone!

šŸ„³ Iā€™m so excited to announce that Fempower Health is taking a huge step forward this coming seasonā€¦

With a major rebrand, a new podcast structure, and a few very special adaptations to the amazing community here. šŸ¤©

āœØ Introducing: āœØ

Fempower Health: Chronic Pelvic Pain

&

Fempower Health: Peri/Menopause

These new curated content platforms will serve women who want (and need) the juicy details that support their health experiences.

Over the past 5 years, Iā€™ve interviewed experts, innovators, creatives, and visionaries who tirelessly advocate for womenā€™s health around the world. Womenā€™s healthcare has come a long way in these five years! But thereā€™s still a lot of work to do. So many crucial conversations should be more widely available, and so many women need this information in their livesā€¦ information that empowers every woman to be her biggest health advocate.

Again and again, Iā€™ve seen a startling gap in approachable resources for women with chronic pelvic pain conditions or going through peri/menopause

Fempower Health is dedicated to bridging this gap.

Moving forward, Fempower Health will be branching out into two specialized categories to make sure women can easily find answers to their most pressing health questions, specifically in the phase of life theyā€™re in.

The original podcast, website, and social media profiles will remain active (still a lot of exciting things to come!).

The two new focus topics will have āœØ their own spaces āœØ in newsletter format and on social media. I welcome you to join the space(s) for content you want to see more ofā€”and, of course, be a part of. šŸ˜Š

Weā€™re also working on the podcast, which will have a new and improved schedule feed so that you can enjoy more in-depth, educational, and inspirational episodes rich with information that builds off of one another. The next podcast season will highlight specific narratives of all things pelvic pain and menopause, with plenty of your other favorite health topics sprinkled in.

Here are a few hints for what themes to expect on the podcast:

  • Symptoms & Treatment

  • Medical Myth Busters

  • Research & Technology

  • Strength & Success Stories

What do you think?

I hope to see you in these new online spaces as Fempower Health enters this exciting expansion!

šŸ«¶šŸ½ Around The World of Womenā€™s Health šŸ«¶šŸæ

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

In 2008, this annual observance was created in honor of Bebe Moore Campbell. Bebe was a trailblazing Black journalist, literary genius, and mental health advocateā€”a true revolutionary of our time. She dedicated her words and her work to breaking the stigma of mental health in communities of color, radically changing our healthcare systemā€™s approach to serving minorities with the care they deserve. Decades after Bebeā€™s death from brain cancer in 2006, her legacy continues to amplify the voices of women and mental health patients in underrepresented communities.

ā€œOnce my loved ones accepted the diagnosis, healing began for the entire familyā€”but it took too long. It took years. Canā€™t we, as a nation, begin to speed up that process? We need a national campaign to destigmatize mental illness, especially one targeted toward African Americans. Itā€™s not shameful to have a mental illness. Get treatment. Recovery is possible.ā€

ā€“ Bebe Moore Campbell, 2005

Mental Health America offers free resources to help us continue to break the stigma of mental illness, honor cultural differences, and spark meaningful conversations regarding race in healthcare. To help carry the torch Bebe sparked, check out the free BIPOC Mental Health Toolkit on the website.

Thank you for supporting Fempower Health šŸ’—

Every listen, episode download, interview, networking moment, and email Iā€™ve had the honor of receiving over the past five years has led Fempower Health to where it is today. Iā€™m so grateful for all of it. And even more hopeful about the future.

Iā€™ll see you in the next iteration of Fempower Health! Iā€™m looking forward to connecting with even more women in the years to come.

THANK YOU!!

- Georgie
